Superdry & Co has obtained new total financing of £70 million from Barclays and Bank of America. L'opération follows a return to profit in fiscal year 2025 and continued improvement in EBITDA throughout fiscal year 2026, as well as a strong start to 2027.

Barclays is acting as lead lender for the agreement, which runs until October 2029. The bank is notably providing a £10 million international trade finance facility, guaranteed by UK Export Finance (UKEF). According to FashionUnited France, this new agreement would allow Superdry & Co to save around £5 million a year in interest costs compared with the previous arrangements.

This new facility replaces the agreements put in place by Superdry & Co with Bantry Bay Capital and Hilco Capital during its 2023 restructuring. Hilco Capital has, however, extended its support until June 2028, offering up to £30 million in additional liquidity on top of the £70 million facility. The main financing now rests on two large banks rather than on a lender specialised in corporate turnarounds.

Expansion and brand portfolio

Superdry & Co currently operates 121 owned stores in the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States, and plans to open 21 new stores during fiscal year 2027. The new financing will notably cover the rollout of the Bench brand, the exclusive launch in the United Kingdom and Europe of the American workwear brand Stan Ray, as well as the long-term partnership with Kappa, planned for the spring-summer 2027 season.

Jim Quantrill, head of retail and wholesale relationships at Barclays Corporate Banking, stated that « ce refinancement offre à Superdry & Co un socle solide pour sa prochaine phase d'expansion ».

Superdry & Co, headquartered in Cheltenham, United Kingdom, describes this refinancing as a major step in its transformation, moving its business from a stabilisation phase to a growth dynamic. This new financing will cover its next steps: the opening of the 21 new stores planned for fiscal year 2027, continued expansion in Europe and new investments in the brand portfolio.
