Nitto Knitwear is opening a pop-up store from 13 to 22 November 2026, at 19 rue des Gravilliers, in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris, according to FashionUnited France. The brand chose to set up in the Marais, a district heavily frequented by tourists and which concentrates a significant share of the capital's pop-up stores.

The company is backed by a family knitting workshop founded in 1972. It produces all of its pieces in the Paris region, in Clamart, a town that counted 250 knitwear manufacturers between 1960 and 1980, as Le Parisien recalled in an article published in March 2025, in which the newspaper described the company as « le survivant de la longue histoire du tricot à Clamart ». An article in the magazine M Le Monde noted for its part that « l'atelier de tricotage Baratian est le dernier encore en activité à Clamart ».

The workshop has around 19 employees and about twenty knitting machines. According to figures provided by the company to FashionUnited, it makes around 5,000 pieces during the summer season, compared with 15,000 jumpers and 10,000 hats in winter.

A brand born of a Japanese order

The Nitto Knitwear brand was launched in 2022 and contributed to the turnaround of the company, which had been struggling in the 2010s. Journalist Maud Gabrielson reported that it was on the occasion of a large order placed by a Japanese distributor in 2016 that the idea of launching a line of jumpers for men began to take shape in the mind of Melik Baratian, grandson of the founder and current head of the company. The label now presents itself as « le prolongement de plus de cinquante ans de savoir-faire dans la fabrication de vêtements en maille ».

The company states that it is independent and relies on no outside financial backing. It is said to have several resellers worldwide but no stores of its own yet, which gives the Paris pop-up particular significance for a brand seeking to assert a direct presence with customers.
