The Fonds de dotation Maison Mode Méditerranée (MMM) and the Commission nationale française pour l'UNESCO (CNFU) signed an agreement formalising their cooperation on 16 October 2026, at the Institut français de la mode, in Paris. L'engagement takes the form of a five-year renewable partnership memorandum.

The CNFU is the body that serves as the interface between the French State, civil society and UNESCO. The signing took place in the presence of Jina Luciani, chair of the Fonds de dotation MMM, and Alexandre Navarro, secretary general of the CNFU, representing its chair Michèle Ramis. Xavier Romatet, director general of the IFM, was also present.

This cooperation formalises a momentum begun in 2025, when the CNFU had supported the MMM congress « Les Correspondances », devoted to fashion and the territories of the Méditerranée and Africa. Following on from that event, a research programme was co-directed by MMM and the IFM.

Structured access to UNESCO's networks

L'accord opens up more structured access to the work and networks of the CNFU: participation in exchanges on fashion and sustainable development, possible mobilisation of its expertise, and the circulation of information among researchers. It aims to foster cultural transmission, gender equality, the empowerment of women, cultural diversity and international cooperation.

The scope covers education, science, culture and communication, with particular attention paid to research in the humanities and social sciences. An annual meeting is to allow this cooperation to be monitored, assessed, and to define common directions for the coming years of the partnership.
