Dior is unveiling on its social media channels this Wednesday, November 4, « Christian Dior's Night in Color », an animated mini-film running just over seven minutes. The project is placed under the creative direction of Jonathan Anderson, who has led Dior's collections since last year, and who thus brings his taste for animation to the Maison's holiday campaign.
For this tale, Dior gave carte blanche to director Sylvain Chomet, known for « Les Triplettes de Belleville » and « L'Illusionniste ». The filmmaker built a story set on Christmas Eve, centred on the magic of Parisian haute couture workshops and on Christian Dior's relationship with Hollywood. The plot draws on the ultimatum Marlène Dietrich is said to have given Warner Bros. during negotiations to shoot « Stage Fright », directed by Alfred Hitchcock: the actress reportedly declared: « No Dior, no Dietrich ! »
A cast bringing together cinema and fashion
The film is narrated by Robert Pattinson, a long-standing ambassador for the brand. Louis Garrel plays Christian Dior and Camille Cottin brings Marlène Dietrich to life. Rihanna lends her voice to The Lucky Star, an emblem of the Maison, while Josh O'Connor animates a Médaillon chair. The cast also includes LaKeith Stanfield, Greta Lee, Nine d'Urso and Nadia Tereszkiewicz. In the film, a sparkling bustier dress draws on the Junon model, created in 1949.
According to Jonathan Anderson, the film « est empreint du charme caractéristique de Sylvain, parfait pour cette période de l'année » (is imbued with Sylvain's characteristic charm, perfect for this time of year); the designer hopes audiences will take as much pleasure in watching it as the team did in making it. Sylvain Chomet, for his part, explains that the world of fashion was completely new to him, but that he shares with the Maison a similar attention to detail.

Second animation project of the year
This collaboration extends to a holiday gift line, including ready-to-wear, accessories and homeware items, already available in stores. The film marks Dior's second animation project this year, following a collaboration with the French studio Remembers, founded by Ugo Bienvenu and Félix de Givry, on a film dedicated to the Miss Dior fragrance.
In September, the Maison had also announced a two-year partnership with the independent American studio A24 and the Cherry Lane Theatre. During his previous tenure at Loewe, Jonathan Anderson had already overseen a three-part collaboration with Hayao Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli, resulting in dedicated capsule collections.
Following Prada's widely noted Holiday 2026 campaign, it is now Dior's turn to bet on the animated format for its traditional holiday film. An initiative that strengthens the ties between the Maison and the world of cinema, at a time when luxury players are seeking to shore up their cultural relevance.
