Selfridges has teamed up with media platform Dazed to launch a call for entries aimed at young creatives, offering six winners the opportunity to showcase their work in the windows of the luxury department store on Oxford Street in Londres.
L'initiative is open to people aged 18 to 35, working in disciplines such as fashion design, photography, styling, make-up, graphic design, set design, sculpture and film. Applications opened on 16 October and will close at midnight on 23 October 2026.
Interested candidates must submit a link to their work along with a statement describing their inspirations, what the opportunity would mean to them and their proposed project. Shortlisted candidates will receive a presentation fee of £1,000 to present their ideas to a jury comprising creatives from the industry as well as representatives of Selfridges and Dazed.
The six final artists will each receive a creative fee of £3,000, in addition to a production budget. They will occupy six windows of the store for three months starting on 25 March 2027, with their work also being promoted to a global audience via Dazed's channels.
A first for Selfridges' windows
According to Will Wyness, creative director of Selfridges, this is the first time the department store's windows have been entrusted to young artists in this way. « Nous voulons découvrir de nouveaux talents bruts et leur donner l'ampleur qu'ils méritent », he said.
Ted Stansfield, editor-in-chief of Dazed, whose publication claims a 35-year history of supporting new creative voices, for his part explained that « cet appel à candidatures est l'occasion de découvrir certains des talents les plus passionnants, en offrant aux artistes sélectionnés une plateforme pour toucher de nouveaux publics et faire progresser leur carrière. »
